In this beginner friendly class, you'll learn how to confidently operate a sewing machine in a fun and supportive environment.

Do you have a project in mind but need to learn the basics first? or simply want to explore a new skill? This class will give you the foundation you need to begin your sewing journey.

No prior sewing experience is required.

Class Dates Available: 
Saturday, June 20th | 11am-12:30pm
Saturday, July 18th | 11am-12:30pm
Saturday, August 15th | 11am-12:30pm

Location: Endangered Stitches® Studio, 315 Peck Street, New Haven, CT 

(Building 6E, 3rd floor - Studio A - above Music Haven)

Please note: this is a walk-up space with no elevator access.

What You'll Learn:

  • The parts and functions of a sewing machine
  • How to wind and properly insert a bobbin
  • How to properly thread a sewing machine
  • Basic sewing machine safety and operation
  • How to sew straight and curved seams
  • Tips for troubleshooting common beginner challenges

What’s included?

  • 1.5 hours of in-person sewing instruction 
  • Use of sewing machine during class
  • Materials and fabric for practicing exercises
  • Personalized guidance from an experienced Stitch Coach

Students are welcome to bring additional fabric, sewing tools, and questions.

By the end of class, you'll understand how to set up and operate a sewing machine, sew basic stitches with confidence, and be ready to take the next step toward creating projects of your own. 

Minimum enrollment: 3

Maximum enrollment: 10

Note: If minimum enrollment is not met, you will be given the option to upgrade to private/ semi-private lessons or receive a refund for your registration less a $3.60 processing fee.
